A ROYAL DRIVE FOR AWARENESS
Gender-based violence has been a problem in South Africa. In recent years we have been plastered by headline after headline of women, whether married, young, old, or even pregnant being killed in the most gruesome of ways. We have seen videos of women being beaten up by their parents, on mere assumptions of them cheating or even coming home late. We have seen children being violated in schools by their teachers and on the way to and from school by men and young boys in their neighborhoods.

Little has been done by the government, but small and big
NGOs have come together to raise awareness and try to help alleviate the
stigma that a woman needs to be put in her place or that it is okay to sleep or
rape minors just because they don’t look their age. One of these organizations
includes royal kingdoms like; the Barolong-boo-Seleka Kingdom. In partnership
with The Princess Gabo Foundation and The South African Royal Princess Network,
the Barolong-boo-Seleka Kingdom brings you The South African Royal Women Kgotlakgothe,
which will be held on the 29th and 30th April 2022. The event will be hosted at The
Barolong-boo-Seleka Kingdom, which is situated in Thaba Nchu, outside
Bloemfontein, in the Free State Province.

The kingdom which comprises of 42 villages under its
authority, will host some formal engagements and a 5km walk; which has been
successful in the North West in the previous month. There will be a night vigil
as well as formal sessions and seminars to empower survivors, with the giving
of dignitary packs. However, for a vision and a cause to work a lot of people
need to come together and make it happen.
There are areas of need as these organisations are NGOs and any
assistance through equipment (tents or marquees and sound hire), catering for
approximately 800 people (this includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack
meals, paid performances and accommodation for 150 dignitaries, will highly be
appreciated. Any donations towards the dignitary packs that will be given to the
survivors will also be appreciated.
